Joe Tarzinski
This is my Eulogy for Joe Tarzinski 7/11/2011
Old Joe. From when we connected in our junior and senior high school years at Colonel White, we were close buds for many years. .
Hanging in our group were Joe, Marty Davis, Chris Murray, Robin Leen, Bob Millhoff, and me. From roaming around at the old Parkmoor on North Main St. to working on and then taking the ‘55 Chevy (burnt orange) to Pence’s Drag Strip up north, we will never forget the good times.
For awhile after we graduated, Joe, Bob (who also passed away a few years ago), and I shared an apartment on Hepburn Ave. In 1965 I had just started working the 2nd shift at GM; Bob and Joe worked days. Bob was the manager for three parking lots in downtown Dayton, and Joe was hired at Dayton Tire & Rubber. I came home at midnight to find a party going on. I was hunting for “a cold one” only to find the fridge missing from the kitchen. When I said “What the @#$%,” they said “look for it!” I followed a cord and found the refrigerator in the bedroom closet! Joe said he put it there so nobody would take his beer. What a pair!
Sadly, we all lost close contact after a few years. Most of us got married, had children, and lived the American scene. The last time I saw Joe was about 10 years ago, only a few months before his death. He had been working for Smedley Chevrolet in Vandalia. (His son also works for a Chevrolet dealer in town.)
So for Marty, Bob, Chris, Rob, and myself, “So long, Old Bud! You are truly missed but we will always have the memories!”
